DescriptionSummer Institute is two-week summer camp for Ohio's brightest high school students entering their sophomore, juniors or senior year. Participants experience the dynamic fields of high performance computing and network firsthand. Ohio Supercomputer Center employs a faculty of experts in high performance computing (HPC), networking, engineering and the sciences to teach students computing fundamentals, such as programming language, parallel processing techniques and visualization toolkits

Young Women’s Summer Institute (YWSI) is a week-long program for middle-school girls in Ohio, sponsored by Ohio Supercomputer Center. YWSI is designed to promote computer, math, science and engineering skills, as well as to provide hands-on experiences. YWSI helps girls develop an interest in these subjects by allowing them to work on a practical, interesting scientific problem using the latest computer technology.

For many years, OSC has successfully partnered with clients that utilize OSC resources on these programs. Many academic PIs who receive NSF funding are required to include a 'broader impact' plan in their proposal, with which they perform some sort of outreach related to their research. SI and YWSI provide an easy and unique opportunity to meet those broader impact requirements.
