ECSS Staff Meeting
TimeThursday, July 263pm - 4pm
DescriptionThe PEARC conference, Practice and Experience in Advanced Research Computing, provides a forum for discussing challenges, opportunities and solutions among its various attendees. One important subset of these attendees is XSEDE’s Extended Collaborative Support Service staff. XSEDE is an NSF-funded program that provides access to advanced digital resources and services to the national community. The approximately 70-person ECSS program provides expertise using these resources though in depth, one-on-one, year-long collaborations.
The PEARC conference has become the primary event at which ECSS staff gather. Management has learned over the past seven years that annual staff-only meetings are a critical component to ensure the smooth functioning of this important group of XSEDE staff. We request a one-hour event at PEARC18. Past meetings have included talks on how to conduct a successful ECSS collaboration, expanded duties of an ECSS staff member and panels of ECSS staff sharing best practices and activities highlighting successful projects. To maintain the team-building goals of this event, we ask that attendance be restricted to ECSS staff only.
In the past, these events have worked best when they are not scheduled against the other technical tracks of BoFs, for example after the mid-day conclusion of the event on the final day.
