DescriptionAn open problem in abstract algebra involves determining the lengths and multiplicities of resulting disjoint cycle decomposition of the composition of permutations. Our poster will illustrate the work we did over two semesters to enable researchers in our Mathematics Department to further their work on this problem. In the first semester, we focused on efficiently creating data, and the second semester was focused on creating an environment in which the researchers could effectively analyze the data. By the end of the year-long project, researchers had billions of data points which they could quickly test their conjectures against. The conference track that seems to be most appropriate for our presentation would be the Applications of Advanced Computing Infrastructure track.
