Biography
Philip Blood is Interim Manager of the Novel and Innovative Projects (NIP) area of ECSS and co-directs the NSF-funded National Center for Genome Analysis Support. At PSC, Philip is Senior Director of Computational Biology, where he oversees research efforts in computational modeling of biological systems, biophysics, bioinformatics, biomedical image analysis, public health modeling, and other disciplines to advance life sciences through application of converged HPC, Big Data, and AI. He also runs the Anton project at PSC, which provides researchers with access to a special-purpose supercomputer capable of running biomolecular simulations two orders of magnitude faster than conventional supercomputing systems. Philip has a B.S. in Microbiology from Brigham Young University and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Utah.
